MCC INITIATIVES

MCC Formation

In early 2016 a group of McDonald School dance parents met to discuss the formation of a supporting parent organization.

A call for support and volunteers was then sent out to school parents. The interested parents met again to begin the process of forming MCC. Over the next several months MCC was conceptually and formally established.
Tasks included:

  • Establishment of bylaws.

  • Completion of and submission of 501(c)(3) application.

  • Securing and funding of bank accounts.

  • Development of mission.

  • Election of Board of Directors.

  • Plan of initial fundraiser.

  • Establishment of website.

All initial funding of applications, bank accounts, website and fundraiser was provide by Board of Director personal donations. 

Why a 501 (c) (3)

Establishing MCC as tax exempt charitable organization allows for.

  • Solicitation of financial  and in kind support which in turns allows funds to support our mission

  • Ability to reduce expenses by decreasing tax liabilities.

  • Increase eligibility for participation in corporate fundraisers and grant opportunities.

2018 / 2019 MCC INITIATIVES

  • Everyone loves a parade!

MCC has sponsored our Dancers for the  2018 Syracuse St. Patrick's Day parade.This sponsorship, a result of our 501 (c) (3) status has saved the McDonald School of Irish Dance the sum of $160.

​

  •  MCC has contributed significantly to support our dancers, including:  has providing new yoga mats for students, paid for our practice room at "O" 2018 and helped to support the costs for travel expenses for our support teachers.

  • MCC will coordinate the 2019 Hooley fundraiser at Sky Armory.
    Including planning, payment of rntal fees ($850) and raffle baskets.

  • MCC  will contribute $1,000 toward the costs of the January 2019 Michael Patrick Gallagher workshop.

2016 Projects

The inaugural project of the MCC  in conjunction with The McDonald School has been.

  • Design of New school team costumes. See images below.

  • Establishment of new rental program for team costumes.

  • Purchase of initial costumes.

  • Initial plan for future purchases.

MCC also  supported 50%  of rental fees for a private  practice room for soloist and team dancers competing at Mid -Atlantic   Regionals
